Col (Ret.) Dobie McArthur is a prior-enlisted Marine who later attended the Naval Academy and was commissioned in the Marine Corps in 1982. He attended Oxford University on a Marshall Scholarship, obtaining a master’s degree in Middle Eastern studies, and continued his Marine Corps service as an artillery officer and Foreign Area Officer specializing in the Middle East. After his active duty military service, he split his time between politics—serving on the staff of two Republican senators and as a political appointee at the Pentagon in the George W. Bush Administration—and industry. He currently lives in Southport, NC.
